# Jay Noone

Jay Noone is a blacksmith, homesteader, and the founder of Mancamp — a hands-on program that puts real tools in the hands of young people. Based in Henniker, New Hampshire, Jay raises pigs and cattle on his own land, runs a forge, and travels to events to teach blacksmithing to kids.

## About

Jay started Mancamp in 2014 as an informal way to get kids working a real forge alongside experienced smiths. A larger gathering ran at Porcfest 2018, another in 2023, and Mancamp 2026 will run a full week at Jay's place in Henniker, New Hampshire, timed to the week of Porcfest in nearby Lancaster.

## What Mancamp Teaches

- Traditional blacksmithing at a coal forge
- Oxy-acetylene gas welding
- Hand-finishing with files and stones (no electric grinders by design)
- Farm work — animal husbandry, chicken and pig butchering, pressure-canning meat
- Real responsibility under the supervision of trusted adults

## Mancamp 2026

- **Dates:** June 21–28, 2026
- **Location:** Jay's place in Henniker, New Hampshire
- **Daily rhythm:** mornings on the farm (chicken butchering, pig processing, food prep), afternoons at the forge (iron coat hooks, fabrication)
- **Saturday:** pig roast — the centerpiece of the week
- **Workshops:** build-your-own coal forge (group build), pressure-canning rooster meat
- **Companion to Porcfest:** runs the same week, short drive from the festival
